Hurts
A “hurt” could be classified as any life experience that may have impacted your heart, mind, body and spirit leaving you feeling unwanted, unworthy, unloved. This hurt may also have impacted your view of yourself, God or others.
Some common hurts are:
Abandonment, Rejection
Abused as a child, or adult by a family member, spouse, neighbor, employer, or the church
Abused(physically, sexually, emotionally, mentally, spiritually, financially, etc.)
Adoption, Abortion, Betrayal
Dysfunctional family (divorce, alcoholism, drug abuse, rage, etc.)
Habits
“Habits” can be unhealthy behaviors that are used to deal with the hurts from our past and current life experiences. These habits end up turning into a unhealthy behaviors even addiction. Habits are the codependent tool we run to when life gets hard to deal with and keeps us in denial of our pain (hurt).
Some common habits are:
Abusive behavior, Lying, Gossip
Bitterness, Resentment, Unforgiveness
Eating Struggles, Isolation, Self-Harm
Sexual & Emotional Affairs, Pornography
Alcohol, Drugs,
Spending problems, Workaholism
Hang-Ups
“Hang-ups” are those road blocks that keep you stuck in the pain (hurt), not being able to moved forward into your God-given purpose. These hang-ups form as a way to cope with life or not that impacted our daily thinking.
Some common hang-ups.
Anger, Anxiety, Worry, Fear, Depression, Trust Issues
Bullying, bigotry, greed, envy
Codependency, People pleasing
Guilt (false) and/or shame
Control, Lack of self-control
Laziness, Procrastination, Materialism, Perfectionism
Pride, Arrogance
